Letter from Buckingham Palace

Published: 01 March 2023

The Residents of Horsforth have received a letter of thanks from the office of His Majesty, King Charles III. The letter comes in response to the book of condolence Horsforth Town Council sent on behalf of the people of Horsforth following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The letter, from the Correspondence Secretary, reads "The King was greatly touched by your kind messages of sympathy and by the wonderful tributes you have written in memory of The Late Queen and has asked me to send you all his warmest thanks and very best wishes."

Enclosed was also a card with a photograph depicting The Queen and King Charles when he was a young boy. The message reads "It was so kind of you to send me such a wonderfully generous message following the death of my beloved mother. Your most thoughtful words are enormously comforting, and I cannot tell you how deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow."

Here are some photographs of the letter and card we received.
